Greetings Heroes,Muggles and Alter egos!
Today I am going to be sharing my top 5 movies of 2016 so far! Going to the cinema is probably my favourite pass time, my local Cinema has become like a second home. There has been so many great movies released this year and there is still so many more to come!
So let’s get this countdown started!
So after waiting 13 years for Finding Dory It was finally released this year and I must say it definitely did not disappoint! When a sequel is released to great movies there is alway that little voice in the back of your head “is it really going to be as good as the first one?” and I definitely had that thought when I first entered the cinema but by the time I left I was in tears wanting to see it all over again. Finding Dory is heartwarming story filled with adventure and true friendship. I think one thing I learned from Dory is no matter how hard life gets you just have to pick yourself up and keep moving forward or as Dory would say Just keep swimming.
Now I love the original Ghostbusters, I think they are brilliant! When this movie was announced the internet sort of went into a melt down with mixed reviews of the all female cast! I didn’t let the reviews put me off wanting to see this movie! In my opinion this movie has something for everyone comedy, thrills, all good girl power and Chris Hemsworth! who I must say was truly brilliant and literally had me crying with laughter.
I think the thing i loved most about this movie is the real show for strong female characters who weren’t damsels in distress or thrown into some romantic frenzy! It showed 4 strong women who weren’t afraid to be different, weren’t afraid to stand up for what they believed and were proud to themselves! This is the sort of lead female characters I want to see more of! Overall I loved this movie! ( I saw it 3 times at the cinema).
Probably one of the most talked about movies this year in my list! One thing I always say about Marvel is they are brilliant at casting and I think the definitely made the right move when casting Ryan Reynolds! He plays Deadpool brilliantly and you really see Deadpool’s outgoing, crazy personality throughout the movie! I love how different it was to any other superhero movie, It had the perfect mixture of action, comedy and even a little romance. My favorite moment of the movie is when Colossus tells Deadpool he’s taking him to see the professor and Deadpool replies “McAvoy or Stewart?, These timelines are so confusing” something that many X Men fans have probably been thinking to themselves for years! Overall this was brilliant and If you are ever having a bad day, watch this movie and I promise you once it’s over you won’t be sad anymore.
2. The Magnificent Seven.
For me this movie was nothing short of brilliant! You get kick ass action right from the beginning. I felt like the cast worked brilliantly together and you each got to see each character grow throughout the film. The movie is full of gun fighting, sacrifice and the passion to do the right thing! The leading lady was brilliant! she wasn’t going to stand by and let the men do all the awesome gun fighting! What can you say about Denzil Washington that hasn’t been said already, He was what can only be described as Bad Ass! He made horse riding look cool!
I can’t talk about this movie and not mention Chris Pratt! Chris Pratt was simply fantastic! Not only did he look good but he really showed just what a talented actor he is! He showed that he doesn’t just do comedy. I can’t express my love for this man enough! Definitely one of my favorite actors!
1. Captain America: Civil War.
So my favorite movie of 2016 is Civil War which probably isn’t a surprise to many of you! There are so many reasons why I love this movie, I think what I loved most is who it split the Marvel fans were you Team Cap or Team Iron Man? There is no secret that I was Team Cap! The movie shows two people fighting for what they believe to be the greater good. You get to see a different side to Steve Rogers, a darker side you could say. Bucky Barnes makes a come back and you get to see what lengths Steve will go to stand by his friends! (oh how I wish I had a friend like Steve Rogers)
You get to see some new heroes make an appearance too! with the Black Panther and a new Spider Man joining the battle! You witness your favourite heroes take on each other and as much as you’d wished they was fighting a different enemy, You can’t deny how brilliant the airport scene was!
The only thing I would change about this movie would be that Peggy Carter got a better send off then what she got, don’t get me wrong it was still a nice send off but for me personally I felt Peggy who is such an important part in not only Steve’s life but SHIELD existence too! She deserved more recognition than what she got.
RIP Peggy I hope you’re kicking ass wherever you are!
There have been so many film that I have loved this year that I couldn’t fit them all in my top 5 so here are so honorable mentions!
- The Accountant – The movie was full of action and really shocking twists! and really showed a different kind of hero and highly recommend anyone that is looking to watch a kick ass action go see this movie! Plus you get to see Ben Affleck who is incredible!
- Girl On A Train – From reading the book this was one that I was very excited to see and It was a great movie! even If you have read the book the end still shocks you and It’s definitely something you don’t see coming!
2016 still isn’t over and there still are some movies I am very excited to see! in particular
Doctor Strange! from watching the trailer and listening to people to talk about this I can already guess that this movie is really going to be out of this world and I will be the first one in the cinema on release day! (I’m convinced that the British actors are slowly taking over Marvel)
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! Ever since Hogwarts closed their doors in 2011 I have been in need of some magic and I can not even contain my excitement for this movie!
So we have sadly come to the end of this post. Thank you for the continued amounts of support that you guys give me:) It truly means the world to me!
so until we meet again..
Abby Rogers out!
