Welcome to my Batcave!

An introduction to me!

” It’s not who I am underneath, But what I do that defines me.” – Batman.

Greetings Heroes,Muggles and Alter egos!

I am Abby Rogers!

This is the start of my new adventure Blog! I thought I would begin with a generic welcome post, with a few intresting facts about myself!

  • so as you might have guessed already, I am a big comic book fanatic! I love everything associated with them. I am a fan of both Marvel and DC! I don’t pick sides. If you were to ask me on who my favorite hero was, normally  we would be here for hours with me doing some tough thinking! Today I think I have narrowed it down, well for this post at least! My top 3 would have to be Captain America,Bucky Barnes and Hawkeye/Clint Barton! I will venture into the depths of the comic books more in a future post!
  •  I am a professional wrestler! I have been training for a year and a half now. I train at the brilliant HOPE Wrestling academy in Milton Keynes. on November 5th I will be making my in ring debut! I’m going to make a whole post about my journey in getting in the ring soon!
  • Something not many people know is that I am the oldest of 9 siblings! Yes that is 9.
  • I play 4 Musical Instruments, Guitar,Ukulele ,Bass and Piano! I spent most of my last two years in school hidden away in the Music block teaching myself how to play these instruments after being inspired by the likes of David Bowie,The Beatles,Coldplay and Take That. tumblr_n0qw4p0gmw1snrd88o1_1280
  • I have always been had a love for space and everything that goes with it. When I was younger my dream job was to be a Astronaut! But sadly  I am just a few inches short of the height requirements :(.
  • Harry Potter is my favorite book series!
  • At my first Comic Con I got to spend 10 minutes in a room with Edge! ( WWE wrestler for those who don’t know) I will tell the story in my wrestling post.
  • I have a unhealthy obsession with Halloween! It’s my favorite time of year and begin celebrating it way before October 31st.
  • Probably my favourite movie of all time would be Toy Story and I have watched it that many times that I find myself reciting the words without thinking!

So I think I have rambled on about myself enough for one day,I hope you have enjoyed reading this! I have a lot more exciting stuff coming up so please keep checking back:) Follow my social media accounts where i post what i’d to think is intresting stuff and update of my wrestling journey.

Life Update 2.0

Greetings  Muggles,Heroes and Alter egos!

Oh Boy! It has been a while since we last met, but it feels so good to be back!  Tonight I am going to update you on all the crazy adventures that life had taken me on since we last spoke. So my life has been like a rollercoaster with many highs and lows.

So I think I should start off with why I haven’t posted in a while, When I first started this blog I had so many fresh ideas and excitement. I felt like I had found somewhere I could express myself without being judged. The more post I started putting out there, more pressure I started to put on myself. I got into the mindset that my writing wasn’t intresting enough, I let myself go into a dark place where I didn’t want to write or really go out and do anything. When I go into those dark places I end up feeling hopeless and alone and I really struggle to get out of them but I am very lucky that I am surrounded by brilliant, wonderful people who constantly give me all the support in the world and truly make me feel like I can do anything!

A very good friend of mine told me when life gets tough you just have to pick yourself up and smile through it,things will always get better!

I have witnessed so amazing movies in the past couple of weeks and There will be a round-up of reviews and my favourite movies of 2016! But to give you a sneak preview there will be a Star Wars post coming soon!

On to the world of wrestling! On Sunday I was very lucky to take part in my first royal rumble for HOPE Wrestling! When I arrived to the venue I wasn’t nervous at all, I was more excited than anything! I was excited to get back into the ring! I was entrant number 28 so I had a long time to wait! When the countdown started and it was my time to make my entrance I felt like what could only be described as a truck of nerves but as soon as I stepped into the ring I felt like I was home and Oh was I happy to be there!

I also got to become a fan again and watch the show from the crowd! I watched the show with Kent Nelson!16196592_10154254025197816_1684978729_o.jpg

This photo was taken a few seconds before my ear drums met their painful death! I can safely say that I really enjoyed feeling like a fan again and Sunday as a whole reminded me just why I love wrestling!

I hope you all have enjoyed reading this update and I will be back soon with more excited posts!

Until we met again

Abby Rogers out!

A special Thanks to Paul Rudd (no not Ant-Man)  and Nick Cooper for their brilliant photography!

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them

Greetings Muggles, Heroes and Alter Egos!

Today comes a day I have been waiting for five long to come! Since Hogwarts closed it doors in 2011,When it was announced that the world of Magic would be returning to the big screen, I raised my wand in joy!

Now at first I was worried that the movie wouldn’t live up to the legacy of the Potter stories, I grew up with the original stories and fell in love with the magical universe that J.K Rowling created. The Potter story helped me out of a dark place, It helped me see that things won’t always been dark that things do get better.

I will always have a special place in my heart for the wizarding world! I first found the books when I was in a dark place and The world that J.K. created gave me a chance to escape reality and forget all my worries and enter the world of magic. I have been I love with the Wizarding world ever since!

Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them is set in New York in 1926, and is the tale of Newt Scamander,A wizard who a studies magical creatures, who travels to New York with a mysterious suitcase filled with creatures. The movie takes you on a magical adventure where you get to explore the wonders of the magical world outside of Hogwarts. During the movie you get to see many magical creatures from a Niffler that steals gold to a Bowtruckle call Pickett! (who becomes my personal favourite)

Along his adventures Newt meets Jacob,Tina and Queenie and in true potter story style Newt’s trip to New York doesn’t go to plan. The film takes you on a mysterious, wonderful journey.

Eddie Redmayne plays Newt Scamander! Eddie’s performance in this film renewed my love for the world of magic. He really pulls off a beautiful performance and does the story justice.I feel like Eddie was born to play a wizard. He is Hufflepuff and proud!

I truly fell in love with this story and it’s charaters, It relight my love for the world of magic. It came at the right time in my life as recently I haven’t been in the best place and this story reminded me to stay positive.

Well readers I hope you have enjoyed my opinion on Fantastic Beasts and I hope I have inspired you to go see the magic for yourself you haven’t already!

“Whether you come back by page or by the big screen, Hogwarts will always be there to welcome you home.” – J.K. Rowling

Until we meet again

Happy Halloween! Today is my favourite day of the year Halloween! so I thought I’d share my favourite ways celebrate this spooky season! This list includes many spooktacular movies, devilish tricks and gooey treats and spine tingling songs!

“Oh look, another glorious morning. Makes me sick!” — Winifred Sanderson

Movie time! now there are many movies that I love to watch at Halloween! there are some family friendly and some truly terrifying one.

My favorite Halloween movie of all time has to be Hocus Pocus!

If you don’t love Hocus Pocus then I’m sorry we can’t be friends! (kidding!) I seriously love this movie and I am desperate for a sequel!

My other films that I love are..

  • The Addams Family a film from my childhood and still brings much joy to me now!
  • The Nightmare Before Christmas! now I don’t care if this is a christmas film,I still love to watch Jack and Sally around Halloween!

So these are my family friendly Movies and are perfect for any Halloween night in and for those of you who don’t like to be spooked!

Now let’s move on to more terrifying movies shall we!

Quite recently I have been addicted to Scream the TV series on Good old Netflix! If you love the originals movies  I highly suggest you give this series a watch! There is currently only two seasons and Halloween special but we are fast approaching season 3!

some of my other more spooktacular favorites are..

  • The Conjuring now if you are looking for something that’s really going to make you jump! look no further! the first time I watched this movie I spent most of it behind my pillow because it is truly terrifying!
  • Scream! Probably the movie that changed horror forever! It is a jumpy, gruesome movie but fantastic! If you don’t like gore you might not enjoy it as much!
  • Scary Movie not as scary as the others on the list but is hilarious and if you are a horror fan give it  watch as it brings a comedy take on some classic horror favourites!

Now you couldn’t have a movie night without great snacks! I’m not the best at cooking or baking but I have found many great Halloween treats! I find Halloween one of those times of years where you can be more creative! I love to make themed cupcakes and cookies! This year I made Zombie brain cupcakes with a kit I found in my local TK-Max! If you are looking for some inspiration check out pinterest where you will find millions of brilliant ideas and recipes on what to bake 🙂 If that isn’t enough check out this video that Zoella made where she gives you 4 quick and easy treats to make!  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MwTCzp1zvY

Music is very important to me and I love a good excuse to make a festive playlist! So here is everything I am currently listening to at this point in time..

  1. Thriller- Michael Jackson
  2. Ghostbusters – Ray Parker Jr
  3. Starman- David Bowie
  4. Monster -Lady Gaga

My Favorite Superheroes!

Greetings Heroes,Muggles and Alter egos!

Today I am going to tell you about my favourite superheroes!

Let’s begin shall we..

Captain America.jpg

Captain America, anyone that knows me well will already know my love for Steve Rogers! Captain America was the first comic book I ever picked up,was the first movie I watched and was the character that made me fall in love with the whole comic universe. I love his loyalty to the people most important to him as we see in Civil War!  I love his passion to do the right thing no matter what the consequence is, All those times he failed to enroll in the Army but kept trying just because he felt like he had to help his country!

One of my favourite scenes from the First Avenger is when Steve throws himself over a grenade to protect the people around him and this was before he even became Captain America! I think Chris Evans plays Steve Rogers perfectly, I love how much respect he has for the character and how important he feels his story is.

Now I know there will come a day where Captain America is no longer around or Chris Evans will no longer play him and If I’m honest i’m not ready for that day and I don’t think I’ll ever be.The day I read the comic where Steve was killed I spent the day in my bed in tears and I’m sure I will be the same when it happens in the MCU.

So I think I have well and truly covered my love for Captain America so I should probably move on to our next hero otherwise I’ll be here all day!

Clint Barton better known as Hawkeye! No I haven’t read much of the older Hawkeye comics but I have read all of the new comics and once I started I wasn’t able to put them down! Probably my favourite thing about Clint Barton is just how normal he is,past all the combat missions and saving the world he is just a guy who likes to sit  at home in front of the TV eating pizza. He may not have super serum or a Bionic suit but He does have an incredible shot! Clint only wants to do what’s best for everyone around him even if that lands him in a sticky situation. which he seems to be a magnet to.

In the movies I know there are many people who question Clint’s place in the Avengers team but I believe he is the invisible glue that holds the group together. He always has their backs and is there when they need him most even if he is “retired” .

In July I had the great pleasure of meeting Hawkeye himself Jeremy Renner!  He was very humble and kind. He even joked about what happened in Budapest!

Kate Bishop for those of you who don’t know who Kate Bishop is she is Clint Barton’s trusty sidekick who funnily enough is also called Hawkeye! or as she would say the better Hawkeye. Sadly she only appears in the comics and is yet to enter the world of Marvel films! In the comics she is the ultimate bad ass female hero that anyone could want! She doesn’t hide behind anyone she fights her own battles. Even as Hawkeye’s sidekick throughout the comics she evolves into her own person and to me that is what motivated me to stop worrying less about what other people say I should be and start being who I want.

spideyySpider-Man! Peter Parker is probably the hero I relate to most in list. Unfortunately I don’t have Spidey sense or can shoot webs but like Peter when I put my costume on I feel invisible all my worries fade away and It truly do become Abby Rogers. I feel like that sometimes Spidey is underrated because he’s younger but as you see in the comics he defies all expectations! I am really looking forward to Spider-Man: Homecoming! I’m excited to see what Tom Holland (the new Spider-Man) brings to the character from what ive seen with his small part in Civil War and stuff from the set where they are filming.  This guy truly lives and breathes everything that Spider-Man is meant to be!

Before you say Bucky is a “villain” stop.Stop right now. i love Bucky’s loyalty to Steve in the comic and in the films. Before Hydra kidnapped Bucky, He was always looking out for Steve. I’m currently halfway through reading Bucky’s comic story! But in the movies he’s probably my favourite character! Sebastian Stan (one of my favourite actors!)  who plays Bucky always blows me away with how well he portrays Bucky and the way he acts through his different emotions. I think it’s hard not to fall in love with Bucky if you look at his story and see how he is trying to rebuild his life! He just wants to right all the wrongs he did while he was under Hydras mind control.

Finally we come to our last hero! who is …..

Stan Lee.jpg

Stan Lee! The man who created all these and many more brilliant heroes! someone who I hate to see age but is the true definition of living life to the max! He inspires me in life he taught me that it’s okay to be more creative and you don’t have to do everything one way! he told me to use those who doubt me to motivate me to achieve my dreams and not to let them stop me! His stories and characters have pulled me out of dark places and truly brought some light in my life when I didn’t think they could be any!

“Never speak harshly of your enemy ,when you can kick ‘im in the shins instead!” Stan Lee!

So I hope you have enjoyed reading this new post 🙂

Thank you again for all the support you continue to give me, It truly means the world!

Keep and eye out over the weekend where I’ll be post Mt top movies of all time and  a special Halloween post!

Untill we meet again …… Abby Rogers Out!

Doctor Strange Review! (spoiler free)

Greetings Heroes,Muggles and Alter egos!

b ird.gif

Last night I witnessed some of the greatest cinema magic that has ever been created! I am going to tell you my thoughts on Doctor Strange without giving away any spoilers as I know there are still many to see all its wonder!

So where to begin? The story is written and told brilliantly. It has you hooked right from the beginning and carries you right through to the credits. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the comics! The film does a great job in telling the audience his story right from the beginning! Throughout the film there are many twists and turns that you don’t expect and you really do get to see the charaters grow, which leads me onto the incredible cast!

Rachel McAdams,Chiwetle Ejiofor and Tilda Swinton all do their charaters justice, they all perfectly morph into their own and you get to know  and grow to  love their charaters as you get further into the film. They even have some surprising twists and will leave you shocked.

Mads Maikkelsen truly plays the perfect villain Kaecilius, throughout the film you get to learn more of his story. I loved the way he performs the script he is given, he gives so much depth  to it and you get a understanding of what he stands for.

I think I have saved the best till last…

Benedict Cumberbatch fits the role perfectly and for sure can’t see anyone doing a better job than him! Benedict adds so much depth and personality to Doctor Strange. He gives the character the perfect mixture of comedy and seriousness. You can really see his passion come through on his performance. He shows just how talented he is!

One thing that can’t  be missed are the visual effects! The visual effects in this film are truly mind blowing!  Marvel have just created a whole new level film making! any expectations I had about this film walking into the theater were all exceed within the first 30 minutes! In each scene you can really see how much work has been put into each scene. I wonder how many of you spot a certain tower included in the birdseye view of New York! You can really see that Marvel didn’t hold anything back when making this film!

Overall my mind was blown away by this movie and I will for sure be seeing it again! The thing that excites me most about this movie is that this is only the beginning of the new exciting phase in Marvel movies. I truly believe that Marvel are only going to get better and better (and soon Stan Lee will rule the World!)

I hope I have only added to your excitement to see this movie!

Thank you again for taking the time to read my blog!

Until we meet again..

Abby Rogers out!

Greetings Heroes,Muggles and Alter egos!

Today I am going to be sharing my top 5 movies of 2016 so far! Going to the cinema is probably my favourite pass time, my local Cinema has become like a second home. There has been so many great movies released this year  and there is still so many more to come!

So let’s get this countdown started!

5.Finding Dory.

So after waiting 13 years for Finding Dory  It was finally released this year and I must say it definitely did not disappoint! When a sequel is released to great movies there is alway that little voice in the back of your head “is it really going to be as good as the first one?” and  I definitely had that thought when I first entered the cinema but by the time I left  I was in tears wanting to see it all over again. Finding Dory is heartwarming story filled with adventure and true friendship. I think one thing I learned from Dory is no matter how hard life gets you just have to pick yourself up and keep moving forward or as Dory would say  Just keep swimming.

4. Ghostbusters.

Now I love the original Ghostbusters, I think they are brilliant! When this movie was announced the internet sort of went into a melt down with mixed reviews of the all female cast! I didn’t let the reviews put me off wanting to see this movie! In my opinion this movie has something for everyone comedy, thrills, all good girl power and Chris Hemsworth! who I must say was truly brilliant and literally had me crying with laughter.

chris-hemsworth-ghostbusters-kevinI think the thing i loved most about this movie is the real show for strong female characters who weren’t damsels in distress or thrown into some romantic frenzy! It showed 4 strong women who weren’t afraid to be different, weren’t afraid to stand up for what they believed and were proud to themselves! This is the sort of lead female characters I want to see more of! Overall I loved this movie! ( I saw it 3 times at the cinema).

Probably one of the most talked about movies this year in my list! One thing I always say about Marvel is they are brilliant at casting and I think the definitely made the right move when casting Ryan Reynolds! He plays Deadpool brilliantly and you really see Deadpool’s outgoing, crazy personality throughout the movie! I love how different it was to any other superhero movie, It had the perfect mixture of action, comedy and even a little romance. My favorite moment of the movie is when Colossus tells Deadpool he’s taking him to see the professor and Deadpool replies “McAvoy or Stewart?, These timelines are so confusing” something that many X Men fans have probably been thinking to themselves for years! Overall this was brilliant and If you are ever having a bad day, watch this movie and I promise you once it’s over you won’t be sad anymore.

2. The Magnificent Seven.

For me this movie was nothing short of brilliant!  You get kick ass action right from the beginning. I felt like the cast worked brilliantly together and you each got to see each character grow throughout the film. The movie is full of gun fighting, sacrifice and the passion to do the right thing! The leading lady was brilliant! she wasn’t going to stand by and let the men do all the awesome gun fighting! What can you say about Denzil Washington that hasn’t been said already, He was what can only be described as Bad Ass! He made horse riding look cool!

I can’t talk about this movie and not mention  Chris Pratt! Chris Pratt was simply fantastic! Not only did he look good but he really  showed just what a talented actor he is! He showed that he doesn’t just do comedy. I can’t express my love for this man enough! Definitely one of my favorite actors!pratt

1. Captain America: Civil War.

So my favorite movie of 2016 is Civil War which probably isn’t a surprise to many of you! There are so many reasons why I love this movie, I think what I loved most is who it split the Marvel fans were you Team Cap or Team Iron Man? There is no secret that I was Team Cap! The movie shows two people fighting for what they believe to be the greater good. You get to see a different side to Steve Rogers, a darker side you could say. Bucky Barnes makes a come back and you get to see what lengths Steve will go to stand by his friends! (oh how I wish I had a friend like Steve Rogers)

You get to see some new heroes make an appearance too! with the Black Panther and a new Spider Man joining the battle! You witness your favourite heroes take on each other and as much as you’d wished they was fighting a different enemy, You can’t deny how brilliant the airport scene was!

The only thing I would change about this movie would be that Peggy Carter got a better send off then what she got, don’t get me wrong it was still a nice send off but for me personally I felt Peggy who is such an important part in not only Steve’s life but SHIELD existence too! She deserved more recognition than what she got.

RIP Peggy I hope you’re kicking ass wherever you are!

There have been so many film that I have loved this year that I couldn’t fit them all in my top 5 so here are so honorable mentions!

  • The Accountant – The movie was full of action and really shocking twists! and really showed a different kind of hero and highly recommend anyone that is looking to watch a kick ass action go see this movie! Plus you get to see Ben Affleck who is incredible!
  • Girl On  A Train – From reading the book this was one that I was very excited to see and It was a great movie! even If you have read the book the end still shocks you and It’s definitely something you don’t see coming!

2016 still isn’t over and there still are some movies I am very excited to see! in particular

Doctor Strange! from watching the trailer and listening to people to talk about this I can already guess that this movie is really going to be out of this world and I will be the first one in the cinema on release day! (I’m convinced that the British actors are slowly taking over Marvel)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them! Ever since Hogwarts closed their doors in 2011 I have been in need of some magic and I can not even contain my excitement for this movie!

So we have sadly come to the end of this post. Thank you for the continued amounts of support that you guys give me:) It truly means the world to me!

so until we meet again..

Abby Rogers out!
